A "Just the Essentials" Adventure
Mount
Evans, one of Colorado’s most photogenic locations, has everything a wildlife
photographer could possibly desire. Its road, the highest paved one in the
United States, takes visitors to the summit, which is the home of the mountain
goat, the rightful holder to the title, King of the Mountain. Bighorn
sheep, elk, mule deer, yellow-bellied marmots and pika also call the mountain
their home, as do White-tailed Ptarmigan, a member of the grouse family that
turns white in winter. But
that’s not all. A rainbow of colorful alpine wild flowers and 2000-year-old
wind-sculpted bristlecone pines are sure to fill your viewfinder with their
glory. During
the workshop, you will learn how to make award-winning images of wildlife along
with special techniques that will give you the edge in the field of wildlife
photography. Experience a
real Colorado Rocky Mountain High
Itinerary Day
1 (Sunday) - Arrive in Idaho Springs,
Colorado, no later than 5 PM, at which time we will gather for dinner.
Afterwards, you’ll receive a briefing on what to expect during the days ahead
and instruction on photo techniques.
Breakfast
─ or early lunch ─ depending on the dictates of our stomachs and
existing photo opportunities, takes place at nearby Echo Lake Lodge. Afterwards,
it’s back to the mountain where you will have opportunities to photograph
pika, chipmunks, marmots. Sooner, or later, all of the mountain’s colorful
inhabitants will likely find their way into your viewfinder. As each day draws
to an end, mountain goats once again become the likely focus of our attention.
Day
5 (Thursday) - There’s no better way to end
a High Country adventure than by returning to where it all began -- the Summit
of Mount Evans. On the mountain, you will have one last opportunity to capture
those images missed earlier in the week, thank your subjects for the many photo
opportunities they provided, and bid them farewell when you head back down the
mountain and into town. Following a late breakfast, it’s back to that place
called reality, as you and the other participants begin the journey to your
homes across the country. This
itinerary is meant as a guide. Weather
conditions will dictate when, and if, we visit certain locations
