A "Just the Essentials" Adventure

The arrival of Spring is a time of celebration for people and Nature, alike.

Join us and rejoice with our avian brothers and sisters as they celebrate Spring’s arrival with their songs, while their likeness fills your viewfinders.

A variety of birds are present this time of the year. Mountain and Black-capped Chickadees. Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers. Northern Flickers. Pine Siskins. Three subspecies of Dark-eyed Juncos are common — Oregon, pink-sided, and gray-headed. Steller’s Jays. Pygmy, Red-breasted, and White-breasted Nuthatches. The list is impressive.

Occasional visits from red squirrels, golden mantled ground squirrels, and chipmunks are not uncommon.

Knowing locations where species like these live is important. More important, however, is knowing where to locate subjects that are not easily frightened away. That’s the beauty of this workshop and having a variety of strategically placed bird feeders along with a cornucopia of food. The variety of food and feeders is what attracts the variety of bird-life.

During the workshop, you will learn how to make award-winning images of wildlife along with special techniques that will give you the edge in the field of wildlife photography.

We will do everything in our power to make this a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Life is good...and so is spring!

Itinerary

Day 1 (Friday)  -  Arrive in Estes Park, Colorado, no later than 5 PM, at which time we will gather for dinner. Afterwards, you’ll receive instruction and a briefing on what to expect the following day.

Days 2 (Saturday)  -  Sunrise will find you in the field, celebrating the arrival of Spring while being serenaded by our avian brothers and sisters as their beauty fills your viewfinder. Sometime around mid-morning, you will head into the small mountain community of Allenspark, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy a real Rocky Mountain breakfast at the Meadow Mountain Cafe, an eating establishment that draws clientele from miles around.  Afterwards, you'll return to your hotel in Estes Park, where you will have time to download images and a short nap. Afterwards, its back to work photographing our avian relatives.

Day 5 (Thursday)  -  There’s no better way to end an adventure than by returning to where it all began. In the field, you will have one last opportunity make those images you missed the day before, thank our avian brothers and sisters for being your subjects, and say goodbye before departing for breakfast. Afterwards, it’s back to Estes Park and that place called reality, as you and the other participants begin the return trip to your homes across the country.
