Day 1 (Sunday): Estes Park
Arrive in Estes Park, Colorado, no later than 5 PM, at which time participants will gather for dinner. Following dinner, you’ll receive instruction and a briefing on the next day’s shooting lineup.
Day 2-4 (Mon-Wed): Rocky Mountain National Park
A typical day finds you in the Park at Sunrise. Sometime during mid- mornings, you’ll head into town for breakfast. Afterwards, it’s time for classroom and a few moments to "kick back." Afternoons are spent checking locations know for wildlife activity.
The first morning will find the music of bugling bull elk filling your senses as one of Earth’s greatest wildlife events - the annual elk mating ritual - unfolds before you and fills your viewfinder.
Another morning, Hallet Peak, illuminated in alpen glow and reflected in the waters of Sprague Lake, will fill your spirit as well as y our viewfinder. Who knows, you may even meet an elk or two during your morning trek along the lake shore. Afterwards, you’ll photograph the park’s most beautiful display of fall colors which just happens to occur between Sprague and Bear Lakes.
It would almost be criminal if we failed to visit the beautiful Kawuneeche Valley on the Park’s west side. It’s here, near the headwaters of the mighty Colorado River, that moose browse among the willows. Numerous herds of elk also call this valley their home. Following a hearty breakfast in Grand Lake, it's back to the park, where we will continuing our search for moose along Onahu Creek. Sunset will find you working the talus slopes along Trail Ridge Road for pika
Day 5 (Thurs): Estes Park-Home
There’s no better way to end a Rocky Mountain adventure than by returning to where it all began - Moraine Park, where you will have one last opportunity to capture those images missed earlier in the week, thank your subjects for the many photo opportunities they provided, and bid them farewell when you head back into town for a mid-morning breakfast. Afterwards, it’s back to that place called reality, as you and the other participants begin the journey back to your homes across the country.
