Our MISSION at Rocky Mountain Photo Adventures is to combine top notch instruction with fun-filled, once-in-a-lifetime adventures overflowing with unmatched photo opportunities.

 

Our ALUMNI includes people from all walks of life...college students and business owners to homemakers, retirees, and CEOs. Skill levels range from aspiring beginners to seasoned professionals. Small group size allows us to provide personalized instruction for all.

 

Our PROGRAMS are designed by photographers, led by photographers, and conducted with you, the photographer, in mind. Unlike other tour companies that includes photography as part of their activities, we are committed to in-depth photo exploration of our wild brothers and sisters along with the wild places they inhabit. Participants learn everything from animal behavior and composition, to the many intricacies of digital and film photography.  Small group size allows one-on-one instruction for each and every individual regardless of photographic experience or knowledge.

Apr 13-19  Exotic Rainforest Hummingbirds

Leader: Weldon Lee

Ecuador's cloud forest is home for this truly unique, exotic hummingbird photography workshop. Subjects range from the magnificent Violet-tailed Sylph and Sparkling Violetear to the elfin-like Booted Racket-tail. The number of species is overwhelming - over 20 different species in a single day is common. Professional backdrops and personalized instruction offer everything needed for breathtaking images.

 

Apr 19-28  Galapagos Wildlife

Leader: Weldon Lee

Galapagos - the name speakes for itself. Offering unbelievable photo opportunities, this magical archipelage situated 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador in the Pacific Ocean is home to an amazing variety of species including boobies, albatross, frigatebirds, flamingos, penguins, marine iguanas, giant tortoises, and sea lions to name just a few.

 

May 10-24  Ultimate Botswana

Imagine a world where land and sky stretch on forever and days are miles and miles of open country without a soul in sight. A land that's home to the world's  largest elephant population, where herds of giraffe, numbering upwards of 50 , watch in curiosity as a lone safari vehicle passes by. A place where nights are campfires in the bush beneath an African sky filled with stars. your senses filled with the sounds of a distant lioness calling her pride as your drift off to sleep. If this is your vision of Africa, then Botswana and this adventure are for you.

 

May 24-31  Wildlife of South Africa

Leader: Weldon Lee

This adventure takes place in South African's Baleue Private Nature Reserve, arguably the best game viewing area in the entire Greater Kruger National Park Management Area. World-famous for its abundant wildlife, the area is home to the Big Five - Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, and Rhino.

 

June 15-21  Land of the Midnight Sun

Leader: Weldon Lee

In Alaska's Far North, just south of the Arctic Circle near Nome, Alaska, is the home of one of the world's most accessible herds of wild, free roaming Musk Ox. Time to coincide with calving season, this adventure offers opportunities to photograph newborn calves. The area is also home to a variety of other wildlife including moose, grizzly, and caribou. There's more! The region is also one of the richest breeding areas for birds in North America offering photo opportunities for species such as Red-throated and Pacific Loons, Tundra Swans, Red-breasted Mergansers, Harlequin Ducks, and Willow Ptarmigan, to name but a few.

 

July 27-Aug 2  Alaska Wildlife: Bears, Eagles & Puffins

Leader: Weldon Lee

Brown bears! Bald Eagles! Horned and Tufted Puffins! This adventure provides unlimited opportunities to photograph Alaskan brown bears, up-close-and-personal, in the safety of knowledgeable guides, and without the presence of other groups. In other words, just you, the bears, and a small group of friends. 

 

Aug 10-16  Bears! Bears! Bears!

Leader: Weldon Lee

Taking place in southeast Alaska, this adventure offers the world's most unique opportunity to photograph both Alaskan brown bears and the American black bear. Join us on this adventure as we photograph these magnificent creatures. Scenic mountain lakes, cascading waterfalls. and mist enshrouded glaciers add the coup de grace to this unique adventure.

 

Aug 24-30  Land of the Polar Bear

Leader: Weldon Lee

In keeping with our tradition of photographing wildlife Up-Close-And-Personal, we offer this one-of-a-kind adventure that is truly different from Churchill. Our base of operations is a remote stretch of Hudson Bay coastline situated at the southern tip of Wapusk National Park in the Tatnum Wildlife Management Area of Manitoba, in Canada's sub-Arctic wilderness.

 

Sept 21-27 Colorado Fall Wildlife

Leaders: Weldon Lee

Wildlife photography at its best! Bugling bull elk, moose, and spectacular mountain landscapes will fill your viewfinder as the glory of Colorado's fall colors provide the backdrop.

 

Oct 5-11  The Maine Moose

Leader: Weldon Lee

Experience the magic of a bull moose wading across a woodland stream at sunrise, nearby mountains reflected in its waters, and the magnificence of blazing fall colors as your backdrop. This is what you can expect on this adventure into Maine's north woods.

 

Nov 9-18  Bald Eagles of Alaska

Leader: Weldon Lee

Join us in the Valley of the Eagles near Haines, Alaska, where some 3500 eagles gather along the Chilkat River to feed upon a late run of salmon in what is known as the world's largest gathering of eagles.

 

Nov 29-Dec 6  Birds of Bosque del Apache

Leader: Bob Smith

Bosque is a bird photographer's paradise. Photograph thousands of sandhill cranes and snow geese, plus a wide variety of other birds and mammals.
